Ontario, October 1999.
Malaysia, October 1999.

England, August 1999. The eclipse as an excuse for a family gathering.

Ontario, May 1999. Don't we ever go anywhere else? :-).

 Ontario, December 1998.

 Ontario, May 1998.

Banff, April 1998. A ski break for Dave, a plane ride for Bruce, and the hotel of Liz's dreams.

The big trip. We managed to arrange a two-month leave from work in March and April 1997, pretty much the week after I finished my Master's degree in Technical Communication. Many thanks to Erica Westerlund for watching the house & pets for us that whole time. Sorry, no digital pics here, just a summary and highlights. We have the old-fashioned, non-Web scrapbook if you're in the neighborhood.

Kaui, Hawaii, March 2-9. A white convertible and a small island -- what fun! Snorkeling, golfing, boogie boarding, helicopter tours, great dinners. A week was way too short.

March 10. Lost to a flight over the dateline and the equator.

New Zealand, March 11-24. As fall was upon us, we flew to the bottom and drove our way up into warmer weather. Hiking in Queenstown, raising sails in Milford Sound, glacier avalanches and the Hermitage restaurant at Mt. Cook, dinner in Christchurch, sea kayaking in Abel Tasman, caves and thermal areas. A small, beautiful country, to Australia as Canada is to the U.S.

Sydney, Australia, March 25-31. The Oscars (not to be missed!), art galleries, meeting up with Sarah Richey and Mike Mee, sailing in the harbour, lucky blackjack rounds at the casino, the Royal Easter show, and of course, the Opera House.

Aitutaki, Cook Islands, April 1-8. Lazing, snorkeling, too few books, Shane tending bar, more lazing.

April 9-13. Travel and a stop home. Checked on the dogs and the beach house, submitted the taxes.

New York, April 14-17. Lots of museums, dinner at Nobu next to Kevin Spacey, The King and I, spa time, and great shopping.

Paris, April 18-24. First, the Concorde! Then, the city. Met Janelle and Michelle, walked along the Seine, snuck in a trip to Stansted to visit Paul & Sue, then back and focused on museums.

New York, April 24-25. Just a bit more stargazing (Larry King, Charlotte Hornets at the Plaza) and shopping at art galleries.
