The 1999 Malaysian Formula 1 Race

Dave flew off for a week to see the first F1 race in Malaysia.

Arriving in Osaka on the way to Malaysia was an experience. The new airport is built on a man-made island in the bay. Access is via the bridge to the left.

At the old Kuala Lumpur airport, we found a car show featuring the classic cars that would be used for the drivers' parade on race day.

The first of many old Petronas (Malaysian oil company) F1 cars we saw on display. This one was a bit long in the tooth, given its slick tires.

A Proton car rally car at the airport auto show. (Proton is a Malaysian automobile manufacturer.)
