Skiing in Whistler

.

Besides a surprise visit for Dave's birthday, we also tried dog-sledding!
. It was Dave's job to hold the dogs so they couldn't reach the dog teams on either side; otherwise, there would be an instant fight! Turns out sled dogs are good at pulling sleds and being excited, but house pets they are not. In a heartbeat, they would jump all over you, take your hand along with the treat and start a fight with just about anyone.

These dogs are a cross between a greyhounds and traditional sled dogs, bred for warmer parts of Alaska where racing wouldn't work for long haired dogs.

. That wasn't enough excitement, so we also tried zip-lining through trees, over the river valleys between Whistler & Blackcomb mountains.

The operators built an amazing network of tree houses and bridges high in old-growth forest and strung zip cables between these.

Here's the view from the zip-line -- it was exhilarating, especially the "surprise" zip you get to do at the end of the tour. Of course we can't tell you what the surprise is; you'll have to take the tour yourself!
