Our seats were in the middle of the front straight, right across from the Ferrari pits (over my right shoulder). We were not able to see more than the straight and the first turn, but the action in the pits always gave us something to watch.

Here is my boy Jacques Villeneuve during practice. He's just up- shifted to
top gear at this point and is going about 240km/h in this shot. The up- shifts actually resonated my chest as they went
by: VERY loud. Unfortunatley, there were no points
for Jacques again this race 8-(.

Here, a Ferrari has just come in from a practice lap. We noticed them putting covers on the barge boards every time they came in. Wasn't until I got on the plane home on Monday that I found out about the Ferrari problem with these. | ||

For a more realistic version of our view, see below. It was a very nice track,
and thankfully our seats were in the shade since it was about 105F and 95%
humidity on both Saturday and Sunday. Amazingly, we didn't get rained on.
It had rained in the afternoon 39 of the previous 42 days! On race day the
exposed stands were mostly empty due to the heat.
On to Indy in 2000!

The actual race was great, but I didn't take any pictures because I was too busy trying to keep track of the cars! Thank goodness for helmet colors. | ||
