Barbados Zoo |

We headed off to the interior to explore and hopefully encounter the famous
Barbados green monkeys. We were in luck, as feeding time was just starting when we
arrived at the zoo. The monkeys are not confined to the main zoo area, so we assumed that they stayed in the general area due to the free food! Not native and a problem to the cane farms, the monkeys are controlled, with some problem ones kept here while others are sent abroad. |

Not to be left out was this tortoise who was zooming (for a tortoise!) toward the food. (Parenting note: that is not Bruce trying to pet/be bitten by the tortoise; he is off the the left in the gray hat well out of bite range!)

We didn't stop long in this area. Bruce didn't like these guys and was glad there were not invited to the general feeding.
Not sure if this is a native our not but it was most impressive!
This fan shaped plant was enjoyed by all. Almost like a living fence.
And last were these strange long-legged hare creatures that Dave though might be the mysterious mythical Jackelope! They really did look like a cross between a rabbit and a deer!
