Barbados Crane Beach

Heading East down the coast we decided to try out Crane Beach, a beautiful white/pink sand beach with a really good break and some fun waves.

Since we were not staying at the hotel on the cliff, we had to come in the "public" way across a treacherous path over some coral. Luckily all arrived with leg skin intact and we were treated to a very enjoyable stay.

Wave jumping was the sport of the day. Here Bruce is poised for some serious hang time! He tried heading out further with Dad but quickly realized that he'd need a few more growths spurts to make that work.

With the tide heading in, it was time for a round of "build a fort and protect it from the water". This one lasted for a good bit, although a sneaky wave flooded it from behind just before this shot.

As the day went on (and it was HOT) we looked longingly at the hotel up on the cliffs. After using their fresh water shower to clean off the salt, we decided to keep heading up the stairs and check the place out.

Luckily right at the top of the stairs was a restaurant open to the public, and we had an enjoyable lunch here in the shade with lots of cooling from a nice breeze.
The view from the restaurant was spectacular if not a bit scary!

It was also very windy. At one point, a poor fellow dropped his wallet right near the edge of the patio and the wind whipped several bills into the air and right over the building before anyone could react. Luckily he didn't knock it right over the side into the ocean!
