The Volcano

The inner crater of Kilauea was something to see. The fact that you can drive right up to the edge of this thing still amazes me.

As cars descend into the crater on a perfectly paved road across 20-year-old lava flows, folks have been heard to say "Whose bright idea was this?" 

Even though it was a cold, misty day, I was not too cold on this little walk: there was an ample supply of volcanic steam vents along the way to warm me up!

90% of the land around Kilauea is less than 1000 years old. Needless to say, I'm not buying any real-estate near here!
