The (Almost) Finished Product

Here is the new bar counter (actually, recycled from the old counters), and a view into the kitchen from the bar stools.
Putting in the half-height counter opened up a long view into the eating area & beyond.
 

Here's the view from beyond the eating area, back into the kitchen. Note that the hallway walking area is preserved, but the whole space looks so much bigger.
  One of our fave improvements: a snack center near the table. Dave perches at that end and can reach coffee, toast, and anything you need from the drawer fridge.
