The Renault R5 Turbo
Dave was a big reader of Dad's magazines, with Car and Driver being a real favorite. A short article in the mid- to late 80s on a Renault R5 Turbo 2 for some reason struck a chord for Dave. After a 10+ year search, a beautiful (at least to Dave) example showed up in California. The owner was the original importer (they were never sold in North America). The car is in "as new" condition with only 11,000 miles in 13 years of use. The original owner had also made a trip to France and came back with many "go fast" factory parts. A short list of the upgrades include front suspension, an engine upgrade kit to 210 HP, R1 seats with 5-point belts, etc.
