Rowing

My friend, neighbour (and cousin!) Laura talked me into a new sport in the fall: rowing crew.

Here I am at 6 seat rowing port (light green sweater, lovely toque) right behind Laura at starboard.

We are slowly getting better at keeping the boat balanced while all 8 of us row. But mostly, we have a blast with a bunch of very fun people.

Once we're off the water, what seems like the hardest part is still to come. We've got to get that heavy, long shell up to the boathouse.

Here, we are responding to the command "Up to waist! Ready, UP!"

Finally, with the shell on our shoulders, we can make our way up the path.

Sound like tons of fun? The rowing association would be glad to have you join us. Reasonable rowing schedules (ours is 9 to 11 am) at the only club on the Eastside: Sammamish Rowing Association.
