Getting an early start on their human-powered land speed record attempt, Bruce and Liam can be seen here trying out prototypes of their current vehicle designs. Liam prefers the carbon-fiber streamlined version seen here, while Bruce prefers the simpler wooden craft seen below. Their record has gone from 1/10 mph (1/5 kph) to 1/5 mph (1/3 kph) in the last week, so Bruce (using special "very new" math) predicts they will break the sound barrier when they are 95 years old!? |

Oxygen intake is important for human-powered speed record attempts, so Bruce and Liam work hard each day optimizing their breathing. Liam predicts that keeping his mouth wide open at high speed will introduce air into his lungs via the "ramjet" effect. Bruce, on the other hand, prefers the natural "breathe right" strip effect, thus his frequently scrunched-up face. |
